APEX University...Where is UTM...?

When I was reading The Star Online (again) this morning, there is one news related to Higher Education which is Decision Soon On Apex Varsity. I’ve heard about this Apex University when I went to an MPP Convention at Bangi early this year. One of the organizer committee said that there will be one Apex University will be chosen among all of the IPTs in Malaysia. This university will be given huge amount of money so that it will become a world class university ahead of other universities in Malaysia.

It is written that there are nine universities vying for the the Apex University; Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Malaya, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, International Islamic University Malaysia, Universiti Islam Sains Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Mara, Universiti Teknologi Petronas and Universiti Tenaga Nasional.

So… What about UTM…?

From what I’ve heard, UTM has won a lot of competition; in the field of academic and research. But, we also didn’t get the title of research university. Why…?

Therefore, to all UTM students, undergraduates, graduates, PhD, even staff, let work together so that we are qualified to contend to become an Apex University or at least research university…
